Hello, my name is Penny Collier and I am the Dyslexia Coordinator for the district. I am very excited to be in this position and serving the students of Union Hill.
I am starting my 21st year at Union Hill ISD. I have two daughters who graduated from Union Hill. I am married to Mark Collier. We are active members of Grace Baptist Church in Gilmer. In my free time, I enjoying spending time with my family.
I graduated high school in 1984 from Cooper High School, Cooper, Texas. I received an Associate of Science from Paris Junior College, Paris, Texas in 1990. In 1993, I received my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Specialization from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas.
From 1994-1996, I taught 5th grade Science/Social Studies at Honey Grove Middle School, Honey Grove, Texas. I was a substitute teacher with local school districts from 1997-1998. I taught PK-3 yr. olds at St. Mary's Catholic School in Longview from 1998-1999. I then taught PK-Headstart at J.L. Everhart Elementary in the Longview Independent School district from Aug. 1999 - Nov. 2000. In Nov. of 2000, I began my career with Union Hill ISD.
